"Deep couches have a bigger footprint than typical sofas, often with deeper seats so you have more space," says Lexie Sachs, executive director of the GH Institute's Textiles, Paper & Apparel Lab. Deep couches typically have seat cushions that are between 28 and 35 inches deep. "For a deeper seat, look for one that's over 28 inches deep," advises Sachs.

✔️ Seat depth: "If you're looking for a deep couch, I would focus on the seat depth rather than the frame depth," says Sachs, who emphasizes that seat depth should be at least 28 inches.
